Big kudos to our PTA for sponsoring the book fair!

librarian in NET library with books

The PTA President, Jamie Williams, and parent volunteers worked so hard during our recent Scholastic Book Fair. Elementary Libraries are not guaranteed any yearly budgets by the district, so some years this is our only source or option to purchase books for the library. Thanks to all those volunteers, and to all the parents who came to support the fair! The pictures are just a hint of what we have purchased. As more orders come, I will continue to take pictures of at least a sampling of the books that have been ordered.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Please donate uniform items

We need your help! Our uniform supply is getting super low! If you have any uniform items you no longer use and would like to donate, please send them in! If you are willing to purchase new items, we would love those too!

Please remember items must be red, navy blue, or white for tops/sweaters/sweatshirts/dresses and navy blue or khaki/tan for pants/skirts/dresses/leggings.

We are especially low on smaller sizes in pants, long sleeve shirts and sweaters/cardigans, and larger sizes in pants and tops.

Transitional Kindergarten

This month our classroom was transformed into a farm as we learned to retell the story of the 'Very Busy Spider' using stuffed animals as props. We sang 'There's a Spider on the Floor' trying to come up with fun rhymes for different parts of our bodies. I'm continuously impressed at how the students live out our classroom motto "We can do hard things!" each and every day.

PE

Buenas & Hafa Adai!

The PE website can now be accessed on student laptops (from school and from home). Visit www.pewithmrz.com for home workouts/activities or see what we’re doing in PE.

Veterans Day assembly Thursday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m.

Families and veterans are invited to our Veterans Day assembly on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. in our gym/lunchroom. All students, families and veterans are welcome.

Fliers and emails will go home to families before the assembly. The whole school is participating to honor Veterans near and far. Keep those paper medal templates rolling in to be posted up on the Veterans Wall of Honor

If you are a veteran, or have a veteran in your family, and you wish to submit a digital photo (of your veteran) we plan to create a scrolling power point of Veteran’s photos to be shown at the assembly. Please send photos to Ms. Devenuti kdevenu@tacoma.k12.wa.us or Mrs. Whalen jwhalen1@tacoma.k12.wa.us

Music

Fourth and Fifth grade classes are learning to play the soprano recorder.

Students may store their recorder in the music room, or they may take it home for practice between music classes.

Students who take the recorder home need to please remember to bring it to class on music days.

All NET Wolfpack students have access to an excellent free music website that Mrs. Whalen references in class lessons.

The site is called MusicplayOnline | Teach Music Your Way and it can be accessed with the STUDENT CODE: j661605

Fourth and Fifth graders can continue recorder practice at home through this site by accessing the recorder lessons under the Instruments section in the menu.
